 The Professional Development Center will hold orientation for new faculty on Thursday, Aug. 21, featuring information, fun, and learning about the campus and the area. Go to the web page.

The SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator will have a tent at the Chautauqua County Fair, July 21 through July 27, to spread the latest news about the incubator and its newest programs and services.  Incubator staff will be there to provide information about what the incubator can provide to entrepreneurs from throughout the region. They will be offering daily giveaway of SUNY Fredonia merchandise. SUNY Fredonia's new director of its Professional Development Center is inviting SUNY Fredonia professional and CSEA staff  to an open forum on professional development Tuesday, July 29, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Japanese Garden Room of Reed Library.  

This informal brown-bag event offers employees  the chance to meet with colleagues, fellow employees and the PDC staff, and to help the Center design staff-specific programs for the upcoming year. Dr. Schell will facilitate the brainstorming session. "I promise that we'll have fun!" she said.

This year's Relay for Life will be Saturday, June 21, at the SUNY Fredonia outdoor track. 

Senior Show II highlights the best works from the graduating seniors in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media. The exhibit will be on display until May 8.

To build awareness of what is discarded and the potential for recycling, students at SUNY Fredonia will participate in a “trash dump” on Saturday, April 26, beginning at 2 p.m.

On Saturday, April 26, ground will be broken for a new native plant garden.  The brainchild of area biologist Priscilla Titus and facilitated by Assistant Professor of Biology Jonathan Titus, the garden will be established next to the greenhouse at Jewett Hall, home of the biology department. It will be planted, beginning at 11 a.m., by Dr. and Ms. Titus and students from the biology program

High school students from local school districts and the Cassadaga Job Corps Center will be making visits to the College of Education this month to learn more about financial aid, the undergraduate and graduate programs in education, student activities at SUNY Fredonia, and to tour the campus.

In conjunction with SUNY Fredonia's Academic Information Technology office, Apple, Inc., will be presenting a workshop on its digital photography software on Wednesday, April 23, as part of its nationwide Campus Lecture Series. The event is free and open to all.

Joseph Legaspi and Sarah Gambito will present their poetry as part of SUNY Fredonia’s  observance of National Poetry Month on Tuesday, April 15, beginning at 7 p.m., at 202 McEwen Hall. An amazingly resourceful poet, Mr. Legaspi writes about the mysterious and the magical in the most common and overlooked objects, as did his mentor, Pablo Neruda. In her first book, “Matadors,” Ms. Gambito presents vivid juxtapositions of a wide range of objects – star fish, Tagalog, frisson – while an element of friction adds a political dimension to her writings.

• Commencement Day Instructions for Faculty and Staff for gathering and Processional line-up.  Information on rental/purchase of academic regalia is sent directly from the Bookstore.

The Birth Control Information Center offers clinics once a week on Mondays or Thursdays. The clinics offer pap smears along with chlamydia and gonorrhea testing, thin preps, visual STD testing, HPV acid treatment, along with other gynecological care.  All clinics are student-run, while doctors perform the medical procedures

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) announced its Annual Wellness Fair will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.  All employees are encouraged to visit the many health and wellness professionals participating in this year’s event.
