Like many artists, Amy Hauber never knows when and where inspiration will strike. Thus, she is an avid gatherer of found objects, hanging on to a diverse collection of items and waiting for that moment when a particular item’s purpose is revealed. The results of Hauber’s efforts are currently on display at the State University of New York at Fredonia in the art gallery of Rockefeller Arts Center.

A half-century after the death of beloved teacher Dr. Georgiana von Tornow, alumni returned to christen the lobby of the 400-seat Marvel Theatre in memory of the former speech and drama teacher who is considered the founder of SUNY Fredonia's theatre arts program.

Energetic staff turned kids into "players" in theatre camp

Boys and girls from Silver Creek, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Westfield and Brocton attended the five-day camp, and quickly were turned into “Playground Players,” an acting troupe, by the energetic staff. The Fredonia College Foundation’s Carnahan-Jackson Humanities Fund provided funding for scholarships that allowed more than a dozen additional children to attend the camp.

The upcoming Walter Gloor Mainstage Series production of “Victor/Victoria” will be a large undertaking in every sense of the word. The show opens April 25 in Marvel Theatre and features a cast of 30, a crew of 40, a 26-person orchestra, a production and design crew of 16, nine different full sets — including a one that depicts two floors of a hotel — and 16 scene changes.
