Energetic staff turned kids into "players" in theatre camp

Boys and girls from Silver Creek, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Westfield and Brocton attended the five-day camp, and quickly were turned into “Playground Players,” an acting troupe, by the energetic staff. The Fredonia College Foundation’s Carnahan-Jackson Humanities Fund provided funding for scholarships that allowed more than a dozen additional children to attend the camp.

Editor's Update 11/17/08: this flu clinic closed today.
A Flu Vaccine Clinic open to all faculty, staff, and students will begin Oct. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in LoGrasso Hall Health Center. The cost is $10 for students (who may use their Fredonia Debit Card) and $20 for faculty or staff.

Hockey team drops gloves yet again to fight cancer

On Saturday, Sept. 13, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., the men's ice hockey team will host “Power Plays for Cancer,” to officially unveil the team’s extended commitment to raising funds to battle cancer. From its first game of the season on Oct. 17 until its 2009 “Pink the Rink” game on Feb. 7, 2009, supporters will be asked to pledge money for every power play goal Fredonia scores.

Approximately 1,300 students crossed the stage in Steele Hall on Saturday, as President Dennis L. Hefner conferred Fredonia’s 2008 undergraduate and graduate degree candidates. The day was filled with speeches and performances, friends and family, handshakes and hugs, which together produced an atmosphere of tremendous pride and lifelong memories.

The upcoming Walter Gloor Mainstage Series production of “Victor/Victoria” will be a large undertaking in every sense of the word. The show opens April 25 in Marvel Theatre and features a cast of 30, a crew of 40, a 26-person orchestra, a production and design crew of 16, nine different full sets — including a one that depicts two floors of a hotel — and 16 scene changes.
