Guest speaker is Dr. Emily VanDette of the English Department, who will discuss the recovery of pre-20th century American women's literature, its previous erasure from the canon of American literature, and ways she has attempted to intervene. : 6 p.m., Rosch Recital Hall. Overflow Room is McEwen Hall Room 209.  Lecture presented by Dr. Ken Miller, the author of Finding Darwin's God: A Scientist's Search for Finding Common Ground between God and Evolution. Dr. Miller, a biology professor at Brown University, is a Roman Catholic who is known for his opposition to creationism and intelligent design as a scientific theory. He gave expert witness at the 2005 trial, Kitzmiller v. Dover (PA) Area School District, the first direct challenge brought in federal court against a public school district that required the presentation of "Intelligent Design" as an alternative to the theory of evolution (read coverage of Intelligent Design ruling in The Jurist). This lecture is part of the Fredonia Convocation Series for 2007-08. Admission is open to all and by ticket only. Tickets are FREE and may be obtained from the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center. A reception will follow the Williams Center.

Workshop: An Interactive History of Nonviolent Thought and Action for Social Justice: 7 p.m., Williams Center G-140. Dr. Gregory Bynum of the School of Education will present the dynamic workshop as part of SUNY Fredonia's Faculty-in-Residence Program. Participants will be invited to examine, reflect on, and discuss selected moments in the history of nonviolent ethought and action for social justice, including the abolitionist, nonviolent resistance of Henry David Thoreau and the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, along with Ella Baker, Martin Luther King Jr., and Marla Ruzicka. Free. All welcome. Refreshments included.

Hispanic History Month Event "Flamenco Dance Performance:" 8 p.m., Dods Hall Multipurpose Room (old pool area). Flamenco dancers and sword fighters present a colorful display of culture.
