Summer Music FestivalThe deadline to register for the 22nd annual Fredonia Summer Music Festival is June 1.  Set on the beautiful campus of SUNY Fredonia and housed in the university’s School of Music, the Fredonia Summer Music Festival will teach instrumental students from grades 9 through 12 starting Sunday, June 24 and ending with a concert Saturday, June 30, taking advantage of Fredonia's first-rate facilities and world-class teachers.

Stroke/Head Injury Support Group meets this summer

Fredonia's 185th Commencement signals new beginnings, in more ways than one

More than 1,400 SUNY Fredonia students were honored in Steele Hall Arena today as President Dennis L. Hefner, for the final time in his 16-year tenure, conferred bachelor’s and master’s degrees and advanced certificates. Commencement at Fredonia included two nearly identical events at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to accommodate the large number of undergraduate and graduate students as well as their family and friends, many of whom traveled great distances to join them for this memorable occasion.

Helen and Vanessa WilliamsHelen Williams, a SUNY Fredonia graduate and mother of actress Vanessa Williams, shares the spotlight in an enduring photograph on the front cover of a new biography, “You Have No Idea,” that she helped her famous daughter write. SUNY Fredonia will host a book-signing for both authors on Nov. 10. The widely anticipated book is the first by Vanessa, whose career includes starring roles on “The Right Stuff,” “Ugly Betty” and “Desperate Housewives.

Dr. Virginia Schaefer Horvath appointed 13th President

Virginia HorvathDr. Virginia Schaefer Horvath has been appointed by the SUNY Board of Trustees as the 13th president of SUNY Fredonia.  She will begin serving as president on July 1, becoming the first female president in the Fredonia campus’ 186-year history. Dr. Horvath is currently the Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Fredonia, a position she has held since joining the campus in 2005.


Kevin Kearns named Interim Provost, Vice President for Academic Affairs

Kevin KearnsSUNY Fredonia has announced the appointment of Kevin Kearns as the Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for the 2012-2013 academic year, effective July 1. The appointment comes following a campus-wide nomination process, followed by interviews with several individuals. The college will engage in a national search for this position during the coming academic year, with the goal of appointing the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs to begin July 1, 2013.
