The Fredonia School of Music will present Handel’s Messiah with two captivating performances—one in the acoustically acclaimed Rosch Recital Hall on the SUNY Fredonia campus and a second at the architecturally beautiful St. Paul’s Cathedral in Buffalo, N.Y.

The SUNY Fredonia College of Natural and Social Sciences will hold its third Social Science Colloquium of the 2009-2010 academic year on Monday, Dec. 7, with Dr. Dani McKinney, assistant professor of Psychology, as the featured presenter. Dr. McKinney’s presentation is titled, “iTunes in the Classroom: Can Podcasts Replace Professors?” The event will be held at noon in W380 Thompson Hall.

The SUNY Fredonia student group Students Teaching Equals Positive Sexuality (S.T.E.P.S.) will host its third annual Chautauqua County AIDS Walk on Saturday, Dec. 5.  Registration will begin at noon in the Steele Hall Gymnasium, the indoor location where the event will be held this year. To register a team, please visit the S.T.E.P.S. office in Room S105 of the Williams Center or contact fredoniasteps@gmail.com.

Dec. 4 will mark the 10^th anniversary of the SUNY Fredonia Campus-wide Donation Drive, an annual event in which the campus community bonds together to provide new or used toys and clothing and non-perishable food to those in need in the community. Their teaching tools -- from teeter-totters to balance beams to falling objects – were anything but high-tech, but easily accomplished the goal of bringing science to life at the Boys & Girls Club in Dunkirk.  Childhood education majors at SUNY Fredonia, all enrolled in Science for Elementary Educators course, hosted the science showcase featuring seven learning stations, to engage youngsters, ages six to 13, in actual science experiments.

Chautauqua Works will be connecting local businesses, college students, high school students, and other community members with the goal of promoting the local community on Monday December 7th at 6p.m. at the Clarion Hotel.

Thomas Kilburn, plant manager of NRG Dunkirk Power, presented a check recently to SUNY Fredonia President Dennis Hefner to support the new SUNY Fredonia Business Technology Incubator, slated to officially open later this fall.

The International Education office will host its third annual International Talent Show on Wed., Nov. 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Campus Grind. The event is part of International Education Week, Nov. 16 though 19.

The New Horizons Band of Western New York will present a Fall Concert at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18 at Fredonia High School Auditorium in Fredonia, N.Y. The concert is free, but the band would appreciate donations of non-perishable food that will be donated to the Food Pantry of the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry.
