On Tuesday, Oct. 20, Earthworks and the new SUNY Fredonia Academic Community Engagement (FACE) Center will host a free screening of “Addicted to Plastic” (2008), at 7:00 p.m. at the Grange Building at 58 W. Main St. in downtown Fredonia. The event is free and open to the public.

On  Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m., the department of Political Science and the Political Science Association will present the panel discussion, “Dilemmas of Public Engagement with Detention and Interrogation in Post 9/11 America,” in the Williams Center S104. Panel participants will be Philosophy Professor Steven Kershnar, Political Science Professor Jonathan Chausovsky, and Political Science senior Timothy Porter. The discussion will be moderated by Professor of Political Science James Hurtgen.

Retro, a Fredonia School of Music chamber group dedicated to the performance of high quality 20th century classical works, will perform a concert under the baton of Professor Rob Deemer on Sunday, Oct. 4, of William Walton's "Façade: An Entertainment," with poetry by Edith Sitwell.

The incoming travel dates include: Sept. 29, and Nov. 29. SUNY Fredonia’s Career Development Office will host a Graduate School Fair on Thursday, Oct. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. in The Williams Center. Representatives from more than 45 graduate programs located in numerous states will be present with information readily available to all SUNY Fredonia students and alumni.

SUNY Fredonia will receive a $50,000 grant to increase prospective Latino students’ and their families’ exposure to information about the college application process, financial aid, and campus life, the non-profit organization Excelencia in Education announced today. SUNY Fredonia was one of only twenty colleges and universities from across the nation chosen to receive the award.

A dedication for the completion of Phase II of the soccer stadium including a new entrance, was held during the Men's and Women's Soccer annual tournament, the Clarion Classic Friday evening. The stadium, which began operating in 2007 once the fields, lights and bleachers were installed, now boasts such amenitities as a new entrance and traffic circle, ticket office, restrooms, team meeting rooms, concession stands and a press box.
