Alumni of all ages gathered with campus officials in the Cranston Marché dining complex this afternoon to honor three of the university’s most accomplished alumni and steadfast university supporters. John G. Baust, Ph.D., ’65, Kimberlee Neifer Caldwell, Ph.D., ’87, and Clifton C. Turner, ’84 were honored by President Hefner at the annual Alumni Awards Luncheon. The three were given the Outstanding Achievement Award for their special contributions to society through their careers as well as their impacts on their alma mater.

As the founder of Pop Productions, Inc. — operating in the heart of Manhattan’s Times Square — he is a producer, engineer, mixer, arranger and musician who regularly works with the music industry’s biggest stars. But to hear him talk as he received the SUNY Fredonia Alumni Association’s 2008 Outstanding Achievement Award over Homecoming weekend, you’d think this was the greatest honor he’s ever received.

The second annual Fred Ruterbusch Memorial 5K Run and Fun Run Mile takes place as part of Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. behind Steele Hall. The Fun Run Mile will follow at 11 a.m. on the indoor track in Steele Hall, followed by the post-race awards ceremony. Proceeds benefit the Phillips Cross Country and Track & Field Endowment Fund.

The Alumni Association honored stellar graduates, many athletes, and remembered deceased friends, as Fredonia celebrated its annual Homecoming Weekend Oct. 20, 21, and 22. The Class of 1981 came together for its 25th reunion, and the Communication Department celebrated the 25th anniversary of its founding. Students elected Patrick Newell and Lisa Meyers as Homecoming King and Queen.

Outstanding Achievement Awards
The Alumni Association will honor three stellar graduates this weekend, as Fredonia celebrates its annual Homecoming Weekend. The Outstanding Achievement Awards will be given Saturday at a luncheon to Rocco Piscatello ‘90 (graphic design), Andrea Romano '77 (theatre arts), and David Salamone ’79 (Interdisciplinary Studies – Radio and Television).

Communication's 25th Anniversary
The Communication Department kicks off its 25th anniversary on Friday with a panel discussion on careers by some stellar alumni in the afternoon, and a reception following. The department, its former faculty, current students and alumni will continue to celebrate throughout Saturday, capping their memory-building weekend with a light buffet dinner in Reed Library and a benefit concert by the TRIPJACKS, (American roots music).
Professor Emeritus John Malcolm, ’61 and Linda Malcolm ’60 are sponsoring the evening. Alumnus Charles Fisher ’62 and former Professor Emeritus and singer/songwriter Dan Berggren will be appearing. Tickets are $20 and available through the Alumni Office (673-3553).
Tom Prevet to be inducted into Hall of Fame
More alumni are being honored Saturday night during the Athletic Hall of Fame inductions. Honored this year are Joseph Caso '97 (baseball), Todd Grady '99 (track), Kristi (Buntich) Wiley ‘93 (soccer), and former coach (both soccer and baseball), professor, and Athletic Director, Thomas Prevet. Advance reservations are strongly recommended (call 673-3553).
