Jazz/pop trombonist Reggie Watkins to perform with Fredonia Jazz Workshop

Reggie Watkins, a professional trombonist who has performed with such jazz and pop music icons as Dave Matthews, Dianne Schuur and Maynard Ferguson, will join the SUNY Fredonia Jazz Workshop on Sunday, Nov. 8. He will first conduct a master class at 3 p.m., followed by a concert at 8 p.m., accompanied by the Fredonia Jazz Ensemble. Both events are free and open to the public, and will take place in Rosch Recital Hall.

SUNY Fredonia will hold a memorial service for U.S. veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose room. The ceremony will include the presentation of the first SUNY Fredonia Veterans Scholarship award to Charlene Miller, a U.S. Army veteran and current member of the National Guard.

The second Brown Bag Lecture in the College of Arts & Humanities will bring to life the thrills, chills, and backstage events involved in mounting an opera. The panel discussion entitled, “Putting It Together: The Art and Scholarship of Staging La Bohème,” will showcase selections from the opera set to open on November 12th on campus in Marvel Theatre. The talk will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 4, noon, in Diers Recital Hall in Mason Hall (this is a new location for the series).
