The fall Phonathon, conducted by the University Advancement division and coordinated by Director of Development Timothy Murphy, brought in over $64,000 in pledges from SUNY Fredonia alumni to support the efforts of the Fredonia College Foundation in providing scholarship and program support to the university. “Considering the current economic conditions, I am pleased with the outcome of this semester’s Phonathon. Our student callers are great ambassadors for Fredonia,” stated Mr. Murphy.

Energetic staff turned kids into "players" in theatre camp

Boys and girls from Silver Creek, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Westfield and Brocton attended the five-day camp, and quickly were turned into “Playground Players,” an acting troupe, by the energetic staff. The Fredonia College Foundation’s Carnahan-Jackson Humanities Fund provided funding for scholarships that allowed more than a dozen additional children to attend the camp.

The second annual Fred Ruterbusch Memorial 5K Run and Fun Run Mile takes place as part of Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. behind Steele Hall. The Fun Run Mile will follow at 11 a.m. on the indoor track in Steele Hall, followed by the post-race awards ceremony. Proceeds benefit the Phillips Cross Country and Track & Field Endowment Fund.

The Fredonia College Foundation is launching its 2008-09 All-Campus Appeal Monday, Sept. 15, encouraging faculty and staff members to make a gift to the current "Doors to Success" campaign. As a special incentive for payroll deduction gifts directed to specific endowments, the Fredonia College Foundation Board of Directors has authorized $60,000 in 1-for-2 matching funding.

Dorothy (Lockwood) Anderson, a 1927 graduate of the Fredonia Normal School, bequeathed a gift to SUNY Fredonia that will amount to approximately $500,000, President Dennis L. Hefner announced. The gift is among the largest ever received from a graduate of the university.
