Ethos New Music Society at SUNY Fredonia is presenting its final concert of the spring semester, “Once More, with Feeling!” on Monday, April 24, at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall. Repeat performances of works by faculty, students, and Ethos alumni will be featured.
Works to be performed include
Autumn Variations by Fredonia School of Music Professor
Donald Bohlen;
Three Songs of Contemplation, Love, and Hope by School of Music Director
Karl Boelter; Harlequins by Dr.
Chad Martin, and
Quartet by former Ethos member and music major
Gabriel Costanzo. Admission is free and open to the public.
Ethos is a student-administrated organization at
Fredonia which organizes a variety of activities dedicated to showcasing new music. It arranges four concerts per year, symposia featuring visiting composers, and field trips to hear new music in surrounding cities. This year, Ethos New Music Society presented a
two-week symposium celebrating American music and composers Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland and George Gershwin.
Ethos was founded in 1977 to promote 20th and 21st century music, including both standard repertoire and compositions by SUNY Fredonia students and faculty. Sponsored by the Student Association, it has hosted visiting composers and performers of national and international reputation for 29 years.
