Fredonia students go 'Bald for Bucks'
Wednesday, April 16, 2014
Much of the floor of the Williams Center Multipurpose Room will be covered with hair for “Bald for Bucks,” a fundraiser being staged by Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Sigma Kappa sorority and the Sophomore Class, on Tuesday, April 29, at 6 p.m., to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
This “hair-raising” event allows students to watch their peers “go bald” as members of Sigma Kappa shave their heads and those of fellow classmates to raise funds and awareness for Roswell. Participants raise money by collecting donations to have their hair shaved or cut.
All proceeds will be donated to research and patient care programs at Roswell. Tickets can be purchased by the community at the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office for $3. Several of Fredonia’s beloved a cappella groups will perform and refreshments will be served.
For more information or to register to “Go Bald for Bucks” contact Phil Frankino, vice president of Sigma Phi Epsilon, at firstname.lastname@example.org, by April 15.
At last year’s “Bald for Bucks,” Sigma Phi Epsilon and Sigma Kappa raised over $2,500. With the addition of the Sophomore Class, organizers have set a goal of $5,000.
Since 2002, “Bald for Bucks” has raised more than $2.1 million to support research and patient care programs at Roswell.
