Sigma Kappa sorority to fundraise at Trivia Night
Thursday, March 06, 2014
Students can test their knowledge and raise money for the Ultra Violet Campaign at the same time at Trivia Night, sponsored by Sigma Kappa Sorority, on Thursday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m., in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.
Tickets can be purchased for $5 in the ticket office in the Williams Center and all proceeds will go to the Ultra Violet Campaign. Participating students will be asked to divide in to teams of their choice and collaborate to answer diverse trivia questions, all while competitively playing against other teams to win prizes.
Last semester’s inaugural event rose over $400, which was a large fraction of the $625 raised for the campaign in 2013. Additional fundraising came from at 50/50 raffle at the sorority’s 25th anniversary banquet and a basket raffle at the Parents’ day celebration, making it the chapter’s highest donation to the campaign.
The Ultra Violet Campaign provides benefit to Sigma Kappa’s philanthropic initiatives, leadership development, sisters in need, and education. The sorority’s three main philanthropies are gerontology, with a focus on Alzheimer’s; Maine Sea Coast Mission, aiding the mission’s Christmas program, emergency relief program, and scholarships; and Inherit the Earth, a movement to make a significant impact on the overall health of the planet.
For more information on the event, contact Cassidy Martin, vice president of philanthropic service, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Sigma Kappa is a national sorority founded on Nov. 9, 1874 at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
