Lindsay Zimmerman, left, a BFA Musical Theatre major from Rochester, will be a pair with Sarah Lindovski from the women's soccer team.
The Student Dance Organization will host the first ever “Dancing with the Athletes” competition to raise money for Moving Miracles of Western New York. The fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2:30 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Tickets are on sale now in the ticket office and are $3 for students and $6 for the general public.
Modeled after the television series, “Dancing with the Stars,” the event pairs 12 Blue Devil athletes with 12 dance majors. Each pair will perform a unique style of dancing, ranging from Bollywood to ballet to Irish dance. The dancers will be judged by a trio of expert faculty and alumni. There will also be special performances by the on-campus a cappella group, Premium Blend, and the hip hop team, Envied Xpression.
The organization, Moving Miracles, provides dance programs for special needs children in the Western New York area. Sheila Dollas, who heads the program, will also be working host dance workshops for local children in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area. For more information check out the Facebook event page.
