Visiting Writers Series to host craft talk with fiction writer Caitlin Horrocks

Caitlin Horrocks, fiction editor of The Kenyon Review and author of the story collection, “This Is Not Your City,” will meet SUNY Fredonia students and give a craft talk on Thursday Nov. 7 as part of the Mary Louise White Visiting Writers Series.

Horrocks’ short stories won The Plimpton Prize for Fiction and fellowships to the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences. She was also formerly the 2006-2007Theresa A. Wilhoit Fellow at Arizona State University.

The award-winning author is currently a professor of writing at Grand Valley State University. Her stories have been published in The New Yorker, The Best American Short Stories 2011, The Paris Review, Tin House, and many other notable short story publications.

The craft talk will begin at 4 p.m. It will be followed by a reading at 7 p.m., in McEwen Hall Room 202, which will include a question and answer session and book signing.

The Mary Louise Writers Series is sponsored by the Department of English. Ms. Horrocks is the second of two writers brought to campus this semester in the visiting writer series.The series provides the SUNY Fredonia campus and the local community a chance to meet and interact with contemporary writers and their work.
