Enactus Team expands, invites new majors to apply
Thursday, September 05, 2013

SUNY Fredonia’s Enactus team, formally known as Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), is expanding its recruitment to broader majors, reaching out to new students interested in joining the student business organization.

Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings students, academic, and business leaders together to achieve entrepreneurial actions that are dedicated to making the world a more sustainable place.

Enactus students have the opportunity to apply business concepts to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and the standard of living for people in need. This organization opens a lot of doors for graduating students. Past students have been offered jobs from Hershey, ADP, Schwans, and other large national companies due to the tremendous experience they gained.

The team is not limited to business students and students pursuing a variety of majors are encouraged to apply. Enactus is specifically looking for students majoring in art, education, psychology and science to round out its talent base. Students with a sophomore or junior standing are preferred.

This year, students have four main divisional teams to choose from when applying. The “Art Shack” team will focus on entrepreneurial tools used to help student and local artisans to create self-sustaining businesses, along with a collaborative retail outlet for student and local artist work. The “LIFE” team will emphasize anti-bullying programs, students against destructive decisions, and other concepts relating to improving the lives of others. The “International” team will partner with communities and businesses outside the U.S. to build entrepreneurial skills and improve the quality of life for its citizens. Lastly, the “Green” team will focus on ways to generate sales of Enactus-developed projects and continue to create a sustainable environment.

Applications can be found outside of Entactus Advisor Sue McNamara’s office, W-315 Thompson Hall. The deadline to apply is Sept 8. Any accepted students must attend the team retreat on Sept. 10.
