Criminal Justice Club to host Detective-Turned-Poet April 30
Monday, April 29, 2013
SUNY Fredonia’s Criminal Justice Club is hosting an undercover police detective who is now a poet, Jimmy Cvetic on Tuesday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in S-204E Williams Center.
Cvetic, renowned in Pittsburgh where he worked as an officer for many years before retiring as Director of the Pittsburgh Police Athletic League, now runs a gym where he helps at-risk teenagers and writes poetry on his experiences as an undercover police officer.
He will deliver a career talk, sponsored in part by the Career Development Office, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and then at 8 p.m., Cvetic will read some of his engaging and, at times, graphic poetry on his encounters and real-life happenings during his career.
Expect Cvetic to speak frankly about the travails of undercover policing, the different characters he has encountered in this work, and the difference he and others have made while performing their duties.
The event is free and open to students, faculty and staff.
