As part of the 13th Annual NewSound Festival at SUNY Fredonia, cellist Jeffrey Zeigler, a member of the world-renowned Kronos Quartet, will perform Tuesday, April 16, at 8 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the Williams Center.

Admission to the concert is $6 ($3 for students with SUNY Fredonia I.D.).

The NewSound Festival is sponsored by Ethos New Music Society, a Student Association group, and showcases music of the 20th and 21st century by featuring composers, performers, and lectures from across the country.

Zeigler will perform works by contemporary composers he’s met around the world, including Felipe Perez Santiago (Mexico), Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje (Norway), Missy Mazzoli (USA), Nimrod Borenstein (London), Paola Prestini (USA), and Michael Gordon (USA). The concert will also include the world premiere of a new work by SUNY Fredonia faculty composer Rob Deemer.

This coming season Zeigler will be part of a variety of new projects and collaborations. He will play two concerts at the Bellas Artes in Mexico City and will premier a new collaboration led by the German pianist Hauschka. In fall 2013, Zeigler will begin teaching cello at the Mannes College The New School For Music in New York City.

Zeigler holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester.
